Our discussion would not be complete without mentioning the MCA card. IBM created this 16 or 32-bit card for its PS/2 line of PCs. This card has two tabs. IBM hoped the MCA card would upgrade and replace ISA cards.

Although MCA is superior in every way to the ISA cards, it was never that popular. You might say it was ahead of its time, technologically speaking. These cards are not compatible with ISA cards, and they cost more.
